What's next.
In order of priority, without dates. Published dates are promises, and a missed one turns goodwill into a grievance. What ships, ships — the changelog is the receipt.
1. On-device transcription
The number-one item, and the one that changes the product's shape: a local engine so nothing leaves the Mac at all — no key, no signup, no per-hour cost. The engine layer is already swappable by design, so this drops in without changing how anything else works. It stays at the top until it ships.
2. Better naming when the calendar is quiet
Recordings are named from your macOS Calendar event. When there isn't one — ad-hoc calls, or a work calendar your Mac isn't signed into — you get a timestamp. There is room to do better without guessing wrongly, which is the failure mode that matters here.
3. A real settings window
Settings currently live in a menu, which is right for four of them and wrong for twelve. When the list outgrows the menu, it gets a window.
Already shipped
"Knowing when an update exists" used to sit at number two on this list. It shipped in 1.4.0 as Settings → Check for Updates… — one request, made only when you click it, never at launch and never on a timer. It is off this list because the changelog is the receipt.
Not planned
Windows, iOS, a web app, team workspaces, a cloud archive, meeting summaries, or a bot that joins calls. These aren't backlog items — they're different products. What it can't do explains why for each.
